One of the best things about spring time in Budapest is that we can finally have our coffees on the café terraces while enjoying the warm weather. Fortunately, there are lots of cafés in Budapest that come with a terrace, so now that the weather is warmer, your only challenge will be to find your favorite spot. But don’t worry: we put together a list with some great café terraces in Budapest so that you will spend less time researching places and more time sipping your coffee and enjoying the beautiful sunny days.
1. Hütte
The main asset of Hütte is definitely its location as it’s in the very center of Budapest, right in the middle of Szabadság Square (Freedom Square). For many people who work and/or live in the center of Budapest, this café offers both a refreshing sense of space and some pretty greenery.

2. Csendes Társ
Csendes Társ (Silent Partner) is actually more of a bar than a café but still we wanted to include it in the list because they do serve coffee and it’s also one of the most charming spots in the city. Csendes Társ is right next to Károlyi Garden, which is a small park in the center of Budapest. The bar itself is so small that you can’t even sit inside, and therefore, they are only open during the warm months of the year. We love this place because of its relaxing atmosphere.

3. Gerlóczy Café
Gerlóczy is one of the most popular cafés in Budapest. They serve breakfast already at 7am, the food is excellent and most importantly, they have a very nice terrace with a Parisian feel to it. It’s just a few steps from busy Deák Square, so it has the perfect location if you’re in the city center and have only a quick break during the day to enjoy the warm weather.

4. Dunapark Kávéház
Dunapark has everything that you can ever expect from a café: it has the history, the nice building, delicious food, cakes and pastries, good quality coffee, and a terrace overlooking the Szent István park and the Danube. What else could you ask for? Dunapark is very popular among poeple living in the Újlipótváros neighborhood but even locals from other parts of the city visit this coffee house regularly for Sunday brunch.

5. Café Arioso
Café Arioso is not a typical café in Budapest. It’s part of a florist/interior design store on Király Street and it’s actually in the courtyard of a building. Being accessible only from the store, this café is a perfect spot if you want to have some relaxing time during the day. They also have excellent coffee.

6. Pagony
Pagony is one of the most unusual places in Budapest. At least among the cafés & restaurants in the city. As part of the Gellért Baths, Pagony used to be the children section of the baths and was connected to the main baths through an underground tunnel. The swimming pools are still there so you can actually enjoy your lunch and coffee while sitting in one of the pools. A unique experience is definitely guaranteed.

7. Szamos Szépkilátás
Szamos Szépkilátás is on the Buda side, very close to Normafa. Now you might think that it must take ages to hike up to this place but it’s actually very easily accessible from the city center. You can take a bus from Széll Kálmán Square and within less than 30 minutes, you’ll get to this very nice café.

The translation of the name is bellevue, although there is no view. However, what you’ll find there is a pretty garden, which is really the main asset of this place (of course if we don’t count the delicious cakes and pastries). If you decide to visit Szamos Szépkilátás, then you should try their Raspberry Dream, which is vanilla ice cream with warm raspberries and it does taste like a dream. The garden will open in May!
