VIDEO: Visiting the Korda Filmpark and Korda Studios

Did you know that Budapest has become a major filming location over the last years? Movies like Houdini, Hellboy II and The Martian were all filmed in Budapest. However, besides the beautiful architecture of the city and the 25% tax rebate, Budapest has another great asset, which the Korda Studios, a state of the art film studio only about 30 mins from Budapest.

But while the Korda Studios was created for professional productions, the Korda Filmpark (same location) welcomes visitors who are interested in the world of filmmaking. The Filmpark has a great interactive exhibition and you can also participate in a guided tour and visit the backlot sets of the Korda Studios. Watch our video below that we filmed a couple of weeks ago at the Korda Filmpark and Korda Studios.

The interactive exhibition at the Korda Filmpark guides you through the different stages of filmmaking from pre-production to filming and post-production. You can also learn about and try out the different tools that are used in filmmaking, including the Ames room, a distorted room that is used to create illusion, or the green screen that allows filmmakers to create different effects during post-production. In addition, the exhibition has a section about the history of filmmaking, where you can also learn about Alexander Korda, a Hungarian-born British film producer and director.

The Filmpark offers guided tours around the New York and Renaissance backlot sets of the Korda Studios, which is a great experience. The guides for these tours are animators, who work in the film industry as actors or directors, and they are happy to share their hands-on experience about filmmaking with the visitors. If you want to participate in one of these guided tours, don’t forget to make a reservation on the website in advance.

For companies, The Korda Filmpark offers a special interactive project, called Film Building, which is a great team building opportunity. During Film Building, participants make a short film together and can try out acting, producing and other tasks of the production.
