Unfortunately Uber is no longer available in Budapest, but there is a great app that you can use instead, which is very similar to Uber called Taxify, an Estonian company. In fact, lots of former Uber drivers now work with Taxify. The app works really well and it’s easy to use. Other taxi companies that you could use are Főtaxi, City Taxi, 6×6 or Tele5 Taxi. In Budapest, all taxis are yellow cars, so it’s easy to spot them. However, try to avoid hailing a cab in Budapest as some drivers take advantage of travelers who don’t know their way around the city and end up paying a lot more for their taxi ride. If you don’t want to download the apps or call the cab companies, you can always ask at restaurants, bars, cafés or at hotels to call you a cab.
