The craft beer scene in Budapest has been blossoming nicely over the past few years into one of the premiere spots to get quality beer within the Central European region. And now, it is time to invite the world to discover this at the inaugural BPBW Beer Week in Budapest, a large scale international beer festival on May 20 – 27, 2018.
For the first time in Hungary, there will be over 40 brewers from 16 different countries in attendance, tapping their own beer during two tasting sessions, and enjoying the beautiful Budapest spring. Never has there been such an opportunity to try this much variety of beer within the area. Locals and visitors will get to talk to the brewers personally and try their latest and greatest recipes. There will also be all of the best local brewers mixed in with the action as well, showcasing to visitors what Budapest craft beer is all about.
And this is not only about the tasting sessions. There will be live bands performing at official after parties at the venue and other events happening throughout the week.

You will try all that you can, no doubt, but what if you’re not able to get through everything? Here are 6 breweries you should not miss out on at BPBW Beer Week in Budapest.
1. BrewDog Overworks (Scottland, UK)
Everybody knows BrewDog, as it is one of the largest craft beer brewers in Europe. But it is their quest to re-define wild and sour beers with their latest project, BrewDog OverWorks, that has everyone all excited. Their beers will premier for the first time on continental Europe at BPBW Beer Week in Budapest. Very few have had the opportunity to try BrewDog OverWorks, so there is no excuse for you not to.

2. The Wild Beer Co (Somerset, UK)
The Wild Beer Co create some of the most beautiful beers anywhere. Set against the backdrop of the Somerset countryside, they are truly a farmhouse brewery. The Wild nature of their beer is displayed in the alternative fermentations and unorthodox yeasts that they use alongside barrel-ageing and blending programs. Flavour is the most important thing for Wild Beer, so that is a good enough reason on its own to not miss out.

3. Pipeworks Brewery (Chicago, US)
Starting out as a brewery that specialized in crazy one-off brews only, Pipeworks Brewery eventually answered to their demands and took it up a notch to produce regular releases of their unique recipes. As metal heads at heart, they are true artists of their craft and are extremely passionate about bringing their beers to BPBW Beer Week in Budapest just for your tasting pleasures.

4. 18th Street Brewery (Gary, US)
Drew Fox felt that every city needed a brewery. And with some help from his friends at Pipeworks Brewery along with a successful Kickstarter campaign, he was able to open up 18th Street Brewery in Gary, Indiana. This type of community building karma can only add extra love into his products. 18th Street Brewery accepted the invitation to BPBW immediately and you should be just as enthusiastic about tasting their beer.

5. To Øl Brewery (Copenhagen, Denmark)
To Øl makes potent beers, packed with flavour and character. Beers you do not easily forget (unless you’ve had too many). With the focus always on quality rather than quantity, they also strive to produce beers that have an edge. They love both session beers and complex, beasty beers. It’s all about the balance but making the best beers in the world. You will not be disappointed, unless you miss out.
