New Coffee Shop in the Palace District!

Budapest has a long tradition of coffee houses and a great culture of cafés and small coffee shops. In fact, if you spend more time in Budapest, you’ll most likely find your own favorite local coffee shop, where the barista remembers you and quickly learns how you like your coffee.  These coffee shops are often a lot more than just places where you can have your regular latte: In many cases, they are social hubs where you can both see your friends and meet new people.

Bisztrónyúl is a new coffee shop on Bródy Sándor Street in the popular Palace District of Budapest. Erzsi, who loves traveling and lived in NYC for a while, wanted to open a cozy place that offers much more than just a cup of coffee. Nyúlbisztró is tiny, but there is room for everything: a corner with real treasures, such as watering cans from the 70’s, beautiful jewellery, and some really cool books about food, or a wall with awesome bags, made by the Medence Csoport, a company that creates items with an environmentally conscious, socially useful and cost-effective approach. And there are also some real gems, like the Crosley portable record players that Erzsi imports from the U.S. Bisztrónyúl is probably the only place where you can get these unique retro design record players in Budapest. It’s quite a special experience to listen to some vinyls while sipping your coffee.

Speaking of coffee, Erzsi uses the brand Cagliari and makes some excellent-quality Italian coffee. The prices are also more than friendly; you can have a latte for only HUF 390. There is also delicious croissant and some fruits, too. Bisztrónyúl is the perfect place if you’re looking for a great local coffee shop in Budapest. It’s also worth checking back regularly as Erzsi will always make sure to have some new things for sale.

How in the world does Rakoczi ter get to be in the Palace district???? OK humor me, in what city?

    • Ikijibiki says:

Your ignorance is showing. The Palace District is District 8, bordered by Muzeum krt, Rakoczi ut, Jozsef krt and Ulloi ut. It is not the Buda side Castle District.

Hello Roberta, the address is in the article, but here it is again: 11 Bródy Sándor Street, 1088 Budapest. You can take the tram number 4 or 6 to Rákóczi Tér, and the coffee shop is within a 10-minute walk from the tram stop. Let us know how you liked Bisztrónyúl! 🙂

🙂 at this point I’m torn. I LOVED the OLD coffee shops that were Hungary. Now they are just like any other place in the world, no longer the mood that I used to visit for. Coffee? You can’t beat Italy – sorry.
